My client is a leading Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) consultancy specialising in innovative engineering solutions for various building projects. Position: Electrical Building Services Engineer

Job Type: Full-time

Overview: As the Principal Consultant - Electrical Building Services, you will play a pivotal role in managing and leading the electrical building services design and contract supervision aspects of complex projects across various construction sectors. You will work closely with the Technical Director and other professionals, ensuring the successful delivery of projects to our valued clients, developers, and contractors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop conceptual and detailed design solutions aligned with client requirements.
• Undertake detailed electrical services design and calculations using software tools such as Amtech, HevaComp, IES, Relux Dialux, and similar.
• Manage projects to achieve client satisfaction and profitability, effectively allocating resources to meet project requirements.
• Maintain commercial awareness, including financial management and reporting responsibilities.
• Conduct technical and quality reviews of project production information to uphold high standards.
• Produce electrical specifications, schedules, reports, and technical papers.
• Professionally represent the business at various meetings with clients, design teams, and on-site.
• Assist in fee submissions and project bids.
• Communicate effectively with clients, fostering strong relationships to secure repeat business.
• Provide supervision, technical reviewing, and specialist advice at project and group levels.
• Conduct feasibility studies, condition reports, dilapidation and pre-acquisition inspection surveys and reports.
• Be flexible to travel and support other Desco design offices as required by workload.
• Demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and BIM360.

Qualifications:

• Educated to at least HNC/Degree level in a relevant subject such as Building Services, or Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.

Experience:

• Extensive experience in electrical services design, including concept, performance, and detailed design.
• Proficiency in producing detailed electrical design solutions for various services such as power supply and distribution systems, lighting, fire alarms, security, renewables, and lightning protection.
• Experience in project management duties on M&E Design Projects.
• Knowledge and understanding of the latest UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, and Guides.
• 5-10 years' experience in a recognized mainstream UK engineering consultancy organisation.
