A busy accountancy firm in Gateshead are looking to appoint a Payroll Officer to support their existing payroll department with the delivery of payroll services to their clients.

This opportunity is available on either a full or part-time basis, working from the office or hybrid. If you value flexibility this role offers this with a huge amount of scope to tailor your hours to suit.

As Payroll Officer you will join a small payroll team delivering weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll delivery for a portfolio of clients using a mix of Sage and Brightpay. The size of each payroll varies and some clients will have 50 plus employees on each payroll whereas others will be sole director payrolls.

On behalf of these clients you will be responsible for liaising to gather initial payroll data in order to process accurately payroll from start to finish. Your role will also include all year end processes and pension payments.

The role involves a large amount of client contact being on the end of the phone or an email to answer any client queries or explain payroll calculations so it is essential that you are comfortable with such communication. We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who has worked in either an accountancy firm or payroll bureau environment where you are familiar with the need to manage client deadlines and work on multiple payrolls at the same time. The role is not a training one and does require a competent Payroll Officer who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision.

The office has ample free car parking and is easy to access via public transport.
