Operations Apprentice - Level 5 Operations Departmental Manager Apprenticeship

37 hours per week (Possibility of shifts where applicable)

Salary: £26,000 per annum with annual increase

Location: Wolverhampton

Contract Length: Initial 4 year fixed term contract (3 year apprentice contract followed by a 1 year development fixed term)

Start Date: 19th August 2024

What does taking part in the Collins Aerospace Operations Apprenticeship Programme involve?

Aimed at ambitious and eager individuals who are looking to develop within one of the world's largest aerospace companies. The scheme will provide you with a structured development programme to enable you to become our next generation of shift managers within operations.

The apprenticeship will enable you to gain exposure to a variety of roles on a rotational basis allowing you to develop as a knowledgeable and well-rounded shift manager. Over the 3 year period, you will rotate through 5 core business areas:

  • Operations
  • Manufacturing
  • Supply Chain
  • Quality
  • Production Control (SIOP)

There is also the opportunity to self-select a further rotation which supports your individual development plan. You will have direct exposure to senior leaders throughout the apprenticeship in the form of senior sponsors, mentors and regular presentations to the site director regarding your development. This will support you in growing to be a future manager within operations.

You will be undertaking the Level 5 Operations Departmental Manger Apprenticeship with In-Comm Training Services. This will run parallel with a comprehensive individual development program across the three years. Your learning will include:

  • Operational Management
  • Project Management
  • Finance
  • Leading People
  • Decision Making

By the end of the programme, having completed your rotations and training, you will have gained an effective understanding of Collins Aerospace's business strategies and processes, and developed the skills, knowledge and experience to help us to continue to redefine aerospace.

What are we looking for?

The 3 year apprenticeship will be challenging and we are looking for the best apprentices who have the core behaviours to be our future leaders.

Essential

  • 3 A-Levels or equivalent in any subject
  • A minimum of 5 GCES's at a 5 or above, including Maths and English
  • Great team players.
  • Curiosity and the ability to absorb information to enable you to understand our business and the role effectively
  • Strong business acumen, leadership potential and change management capabilities
  • The confidence and vision to look at, and challenge, existing ways of working
  • Analytical thinkers - you'll be handling lots of information and data and you'll need to make sense of it
  • Fluency in English

Desirable

  • Natural leaders
  • Level 3 Engineering Technician/NVQ Level 3 in Manufacturing related subject
  • Motivated and professional
  • Great organisation skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Passion to work in aerospace and a real desire to make a difference to our business
