You will be joining the team at the Farndon Unit, a purpose-built hospital which offers three services for women with mental health and personality disorder diagnoses. The dedicated team offer personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways, including a trauma specific pathway, for women with complex care needs.

Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you will support the service in delivering structured skills development activities and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions. You will build one-to-one rapports with service users to support their participation in occupations that have value and meaning to them and which enable and enhance their recovery.

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured activities in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other members of the multi disciplinary team (MDT) in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
  • Supporting service users to achieve their goals and access appropriate services and resources.
  • Maintaining adequate records, entering details in the service user healthcare records.

To be successful in this role you will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2.
  • Experience of working within a similar environment and demonstrate an understanding of Mental Health diagnosis and its impact on individuals
  • Verbal & written communication skills
  • Experience of planning and facilitating activities
