About the company
Randstad are excited to be working with an organisation that specialises in providing therapeutic care for young males with a traumatic background, using an evidence-based approach rooted in the latest guidelines. They operate therapeutic communities that aim to foster pro social skills and independence in their residents. Their services include structured therapeutic interventions alongside education, aiming to rehabilitate and prepare residents for successful community integration.

The Role

  • Team members form a vital part of sub-teams working on a rolling rota, providing crucial overnight care and support, which deeply impacts the young boys by ensuring their safety and comfort (in reality this is quite minimal).
  • The Waking Night team, essential in safeguarding the service, also maintains the environment and manages necessary paperwork, enabling a seamless transition from day to night.
  • During quiet nights, team members may address the immediate needs of the boys, such as comforting them after a nightmare or helping them settle back to sleep, thereby offering reassurance and stability.
  • Their work includes varied tasks like cooking and system management, contributing significantly to the boys' structured living environment.
  • Operating within a therapeutic community, staff members engage in reflective practices to enhance their relationships with the boys, fostering a supportive and developmental atmosphere.
  • This role emphasises the development of meaningful relationships across the community, enhancing staff self-awareness and interpersonal effectiveness, ultimately benefiting the boys' growth and rehabilitation.

What you will need

  • The company welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds and with various experiences.
  • Individuals with experience in residential childcare will be supported to adapt to the company's unique practices and approach, which may differ from their previous experiences.
  • Those new to the sector are offered comprehensive training to facilitate their entry into this exciting and varied field, with a clear career progression path.
  • Candidates are required to have basic English and IT communication skills, suitable for working in a modern environment with teenagers.
  • Applicants must be over 21 years of age; there is no upper age limit.
  • Possession of a full driving licence is essential.
  • Desired qualities include a sense of humour, life skills, broad interests, a fondness for young people, resilience, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities, as these attributes provide a variety of role models for the boys.
