MOT Tester/Vehicle Mechanic

Permanent Contract

£15 to £17 per hour depending on experience and qualifications

Full Time - Hours 8am to 6pm (45 hrs per week Monday to Friday/2 Saturdays (5 hours) per month)

We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester to join our team. As an MOT Tester/Vehicle Mechanic for their family-owned business in Cardiff, you will be responsible for conducting vehicle inspections and ensuring that they meet safety and environmental standards. This is a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our customers and maintaining compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities:

- Perform MOT tests on vehicles according to established guidelines and standards
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, including checking brakes, lights, tyres, and other essential components
- Identify any faults or defects and provide accurate and detailed reports
- Advise customers on necessary repairs or maintenance required to pass the MOT test
- Maintain accurate records of all tests conducted
- Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and industry best practices

Requirements:

• Current up to date MOT Licence
• Previous experience essential in MOT Inspections to comply with DVSA regulations as standard.
• A full driving licence.
• Mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems
• Previous experience as an MOT Test or relevant automotive experience preferred however will consider a Third year mechanic looking to take an MOT Course
• Proficient in using hand tools and power tools for inspections and repairs
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify faults and defects accurately
• Committed team player
• Able to produce high quality of work and motivated to achieve targets

Person Specification

• A full time MOT Tester
• A part time MOT Tester who is looking to return to the industry and retake an MOT Course
• A 3rd year vehicle mechanic looking to become an MOT Tester
• A self-employed MOT Tester - £20 per MOT and will consider part time/full time
