Elevation Recruitment Group are working with an industrial gases business who deal with a range of industries and processes, including healthcare, and manufacturing sectors. They are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer in the South Yorkshire region. 

The Mechanical Project Engineer will support the project managers & engineers in the delivery of end-to-end projects (Typically, £100K - £3M), this includes feasibility studies, estimates, proposals and for both internal projects and third party sales across all business areas in the UK & Ireland.

The Mechanical Project Engineer will be required to:

  • Provide mechanical engineering assistance to operations, including supporting the Engineering Management of Change process and overseeing equipment repairs and replacements
  • Take responsibility for the mechanical engineering deliverables on large multi-discipline projects, or managing the delivery of smaller single discipline projects
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, while ensuring equipment is fit for purpose and meets all relevant internal and external standards and legislation
  • Provide technical authority guidance and support and take ownership of a number of internal standards
  • Undertake internal audits and support incident investigations
  • Contribute to and deliver continuous improvement objectives
  • Support the development of less experienced engineers within the business.

Key Skills & Knowledge required:

  • Work effectively in a team environment and operate individually with drive to succeed
  • Strong communicator and ability to work with many stakeholders and sponsors
  • PC literate: (MS Office suite; SAP, CAD, SharePoint, Microsoft PPM)
  • Ability to analyse costs to a budget
  • Ability to define and undertake scope development
  • Ability to support senior engineers and managers in the project delivery tasks
  • Knowledge of engineering practices/ contracting/ Project Management/ Industry standards
  • Project management principles life cycle
  • Financial awareness and reporting metrics
  • Basic risk management
  • Health and Safety Legislation including:
    • Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
    • Construction Design & Management Regulations (CDM)

Required qualification/ Experience: 

  • Qualified to degree level or above in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline (Essential)
  • Background Industrial / Medical Gases or Chemical Industry
  • Experience of specifying pressure equipment/systems e.g. piping, valves, vessels, etc. 
  • Knowledge in project engineering in either contracting or operating company environments, proposals, tendering, sub-contract activity, financial/cost management
  • Professional membership to IMechE, APM, IET or equal and working towards Chartership
