Mechanical Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team within a state-of-the-art environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining complex critical plant and equipment, ensuring maximum operational throughput and minimal downtime.

• Conducting Preventive Maintenance (PPM) to maintain plant and machinery to a high standard.
• Troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing problem-solving strategies.
• Performing fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure continuous operation.
• Proactively seeking ways to improve line performance and efficiency.
• Assisting with line clearance cleans and ensuring equipment is reassembled and returned to running order.
• Responding to breakdowns, identifying faults, and rectifying repairs swiftly.
• Implementing and commissioning solutions in line with PUWER risk assessments.
• Performing mechanical strip and rebuilds down to component level.
• Utilising workshop equipment for engineering fabrication, machining, and welding.
• Supervising contractors and ensuring work complies with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and completing tasks as required.

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering is desirable, with a minimum of HNC Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in the food, pharma, packaging, or medical device sector is preferred.
• Demonstrable mechanical aptitude in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, pneumatics, mechanical drive belts, and conveyors.
• Familiarity with steam boilers and compressors.
• Capable of undertaking minor site facilities projects, including plumbing and heating.
• Systematic problem-solving skills with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge.
• Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Efficient, accurate, and able to meet deadlines.
• Innovative mindset with the ability to challenge the status quo.
• Experience in a highly regulated environment and the ability to prioritise workloads.
