Job Purpose:

Deliver engine development and validation testing to define and prove product attribute targets. Support engine programme timing, cost and quality across all AML engine projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define component and system targets
  • Create and maintain test procedure
  • Create and own DVP
  • Plan and execute mechanical development / performance development testing
  • Lead problem solving investigation that occur during development programme
  • Become integral part of vehicle team to follow integration of engine into the powertrain
  • Work closely with build teams to ensure optimized instrumentation layout/requirements
  • Work closely with analysis teams to guide analysis and correlation to test results
  • Analysis and interpretation of physical test results to correlate simulation and validate design function
  • Optimization of current test procedure and data analysis tools
  • Develop close working relationships with the external partners
  • Work closely with calibration team to ensure correct/reliable performance from engine

Qualification & Experience:

  • Significant experience in hands-on engine/transmission and driveline testing / development roles
  • Failure investigations and problem solving
  • Managing and developing external engineering resource
  • Driving optimization through analysis
  • Close collaboration with design and simulation teams, understanding data analysis and design process
  • Working across functional teams effectively to deliver viable design solutions
  • Managed concern resolution
  • Working within an OEM environment
  • Prior demonstration of testing budget and timing management
  • Industry standard dyno and vehicle validation procedures
  • Astute project control including resource planning, timing, milestones, and meeting disciplines
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification, strong background in powertrain development
