Mechanical Design Engineer

We are working with a highly reputable robotics manufacturer who have over 25 years’ experience in the industry. They have ambitious targets over the next few years and for those targets to be achieved, they need a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.

As the lead Mechanical Design Engineer in the business your role will be pivotal for all projects going forward. You will be designing all client projects, continuing the development of the design file organisation, and you will help support all areas of the business such as electrical design, workshop, and stores.

This is a fantastic opportunity for some to join an ambitious business, work in a multi-disciplined role, and lead the mechanical design function of the business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design of automation and robotic solutions ranging from logistics material handling systems to collaborative robots, and palletisers
  • Creating 2D & 3D concept layouts and drawings using Autodesk inventor
  • Cooperating with electrical design teams to ensure mechanical designs are fit for purpose and can be controlled as intended
  • Presenting tailored solutions based on clients requirements, addressing any questions or concerns
  • Cooperating with the engineering team ensuring proposed solutions & timescales are achievable

Person Specification

  • Excellent design experience, ideally working with sheet metal
  • Extremely competent with Autodesk Inventor
  • Strong understanding of design file organisation
  • A strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and listening skills

Hours of Work, Pay, and Benefits

  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:30am to 4:30pm
  • Up to £55,000
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays (3 days required for Christmas shutdown)
  • Company pension
