Purpose of role:

You will assist PECT’s Marketing and Communications Manager with PECT’s integrated marketing and communications strategy and help proactively raise awareness of sustainability, the charity and its work - with a regional and national focus.

You will be responsible for supporting and implementing the marketing strategy for PECT and our flagship programmes (Investors in the Environment, Climate Education, and Aspect Sustainability), including website management, PR, social media, newsletters, events and other promotional activities.

You will have excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, and a passion for sustainability.

Based: This position will be based at PECT’s offices: Ham Lane House, Ham Lane Peterborough, PE2 5UU. Hybrid working is currently in place with two days per week in the office.

Salary: £22,500 pro rata

Work outside normal hours: Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, typically for events

Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager

Key responsibilities:
  • Assisting the development and delivery of marketing and communications strategies for PECT and our projects
  • Undertake research, including social media trends, industry insights, keyword and SEO research, local press outlets and connections, and upcoming campaigns.
  • Helping develop content for national campaigns and PECT projects including short videos, on-site photography, social media graphics, blogs, and news articles.
  • Creating and scheduling social media posts for a variety of audiences.
  • Building good relationships with journalists and creating press releases for programmes and projects
  • Monitoring, reviewing and analysing performance of PECTs marketing efforts
  • Produce regular reports and updates on the marketing progress, achievements and challenges.
  • Manage and support the development of key relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Any other relevant tasks given by line manager

Essential criteria:
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work independently
  • Willingness to undertake training where required
  • Good understanding of social media platforms
Desirable:
  • Relevant experience in a marketing or communications role
  • Previous experience using marketing and CRM software such as: HubSpot/ Hootsuite
  • Ability to produce creative designs/artwork for print and digital requirements (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
  • Knowledge of and skills in social media management, focusing on increasing reach and engagement.
  • Knowledge of and skills in SEO and creating, optimising and managing Google Ads.
  • Comfortable talking in front of a camera
  • Enthusiasm for and understanding of environmental/sustainable development issues.
