Role Description:
The ideal candidate must be able to diagnose and undertake electrical repairs on a wide variety of vehicles and have the ability to diagnose electrical faults using electrical diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify malfunctions in vehicle electrical systems by taking readings using diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to use readings to identify faults.
  • Electrical installations of lights, lamps, and beacons.
  • Fitting and testing of reverse sensors and alarms.
  • Wiring and fitting electrics to install tow bars.
  • Fitting and installing wiring looms.
  • Modifying electrical circuits loom building and installation.
  • Diagnose faults and rectify them.
  • Regular attendance, timekeeping, and clocking-in to facilitate payment.

General Responsibilities:

  • Must comply with relevant health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures in performing the duties of the post i.e. wear personal protective equipment when appropriate.
  • To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • Ensure that the work area and tools are kept clean, tidy, and maintained.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and auto electrical qualification certificate or equivalent
  • Proven work experience as an Electrical Technician.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Complex problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Must have own electrical tools, Multimeter, a good range of crimping tools, socket set, electrical screwdrivers, trim tools

Skills/Aptitude:

  • Must possess good vision and the ability to identify different colours.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Flexible approach to working locations as may be asked to provide support at other sites in the UK.
  • Flexible to work shift patterns, overtime, and weekends to achieve production.
  • Must be psychologically and medically fit.
  • Ability to work under pressure and work to very high demanding standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 3 City and Guilds / IMIA / BTEC / NVQ / Edexel in Auto Electrical discipline, light motor vehicle maintenance or similar.
  • Level 2 Certificate / Diploma / Award in Motor Vehicle Studies (Auto Electrical Pathway).
  • Level 2 City and Guilds / IMIA / BTEC / NVQ / Edexel, Level 2 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Principles.
  • Level 2 City and Guilds / IMIA / BTEC / NVQ / Edexel, Level 2 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Competence (QCF).
  • Time served apprentice essential.
  • Capable of using diagnostic tools to analyse electrical faults.
  • Experience working on electrical and mechanical components of modern light motor vehicles.
  • Good working knowledge of the manufacture of vehicle wiring.
  • A full category "B" driving license is essential.
  • Experience in an automotive environment is essential.
  • Must have own range of Electrical tools.

Pay Rate Per Hour:

Basic day rate: £19.80 ph
