Salary: Circa £60-65k depending on experience

The opportunity:

MBDA are looking for experienced test equipment/design for test engineers that want to use their knowledge in a Lead Test Architect Role. The role includes leading a small project team that is responsible for determining the projects TE and Testability of the missile. In this role, you will be reporting into the Chief Design Engineer and leading a team of approximately three other engineers.

The department is responsible for the test architecture of our missiles, specifying and analysing the missile built in test, specifying the production testing requirements and managing the specification and delivery of the missile test equipment.

What we're looking for from you:

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Provide technical leadership to all Test related issues on the project.
  • Manage the day to day delivery of the test team on that project.
  • Manage and assign the workload within the team ensuring the future workload forecast is accurate.
  • Manage the performance/development of individuals within their team including recruitment and onboarding of new starters.
  • Manage the time and attendance aspects of their team (holidays, overtime, timesheets, expenses etc).
  • Support the department head with recruitment of the right people into the team.

The successful candidate will be leading the project team that is responsible for:

  • Definition of the TE Technical Requirements and Statement of Work.
  • Managing the delivery of the TE from our internal TE design team and managing any TE Design trades.
  • Defining and implementing the project test strategy
  • Defining and implementing the project BIT architecture including coverage requirements, BIT timings and system level BIT routines.
  • Specifying the missile factory pass out testing used to ensure correct build of our product, supporting the manufacturing team with identifying the optimal test stages during production.
  • Specifying the in service test routines on our missiles.
  • Generating and managing compliance to the lower level test requirements placed upon design teams.
  • Analysing and modelling our system to understand the test coverage and generate diagnostic instructions.

Skillset/experience required:

Ideally educated to degree level with substantial experience of test, electrical or electronic engineering, ideally including at least one of the following:

  • Digital electronics and microprocessor systems.
  • Analogue electronics.
  • Electronics testing.
  • Test equipment design.

Good understanding of:

  • Experience in requirements capture.
  • Project management and planning.
  • Stakeholder management.

Other Attributes

  • Able to lead and develop a small project team.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across the company.
  • Strong interpersonal and well developed communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Willingness to travel when required (UK and EU).
