Job Title: Lead Learning Support Assistant

Location: Eastleigh, UK

Contract Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm

Start date: ASAP

As the Lead Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of LSAs, ensuring the highest level of support is provided to students with diverse learning needs. You will act as a role model, providing guidance, training, and support to LSAs to help them excel in their roles. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in managing LSAs who is passionate about making a meaningful impact in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Learning Support Assistants, providing guidance and support to help them succeed in their roles.
  • Coordinate and allocate resources effectively to meet the needs of students requiring additional support.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement personalised support plans for students.
  • Monitor the progress of students and provide feedback to the team to continuously improve support strategies.
  • Act as a liaison between the LSA team and management, advocating for resources and support as needed.
  • Stay updated on best practices in special education and learning support to inform decision-making and training initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a leadership role, ideally managing a team of Learning Support Assistants.
  • Strong understanding of special education needs and learning support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
  • Availability to start as soon as possible on a long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate.
