Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in monitoring the Laboratory quality system compliance and effectiveness through audits and process control checks.

You will be responsible for ensuring that products meet food safety legislation, technical specifications, and quality standards, while meeting customer expectations. Responsibilities: - Sampling materials at various points in the manufacturing process for chemical and microbiological analysis - Performing micro analysis of samples using specified methods - Conducting product sensory panels to meet requirements - Carrying out quality and food safety checks - Notifying the Technical Team of any results outside specification for corrective actions - Managing the non-conformance database - Ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule - Maintaining and updating the Training Matrix - Keeping Laboratory Documents up to date - Ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and procedures - Maintaining and calibrating analytical equipment to required standards - Monitoring the date criteria of raw materials and chemicals used in the laboratory - Arranging service contracts and maintaining equipment - Ordering necessary materials and equipment - Ensuring quality laboratory operation meets external accredited body requirements - Conducting process confirmations in the lab (T-Cards, 5S) - Providing technical support to other company departments when needed - Observing health and safety procedures and updating procedures as required - Completing GMP and internal audits on time - Assisting with the implementation of quality systems and project work - Arranging appropriate lab cover in case of absences

Candidate Profile: - Practical experience of Good Laboratory Practices and microbiology testing

- Previous experience in a similar role within QA, Sensory, or laboratory accreditation standards in a manufacturing environment - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Good written and verbal communication skills - Ability to interact with various levels within the company and external contractors - PC literate with the ability to interpret analytical and microbiological data - Working knowledge of SAP would be advantageous - Willingness to learn new skills - Excellent attention to detail - Ability to work on a shift pattern including weekends and bank holidays - Willingness to be on the on-call roster for weekend cover

Key Qualifications: - Science degree or equivalent - Food Safety Level 2 certification - Food Hygiene Level 2 certification - Internal Auditor certification (preferable) Please note that this is a contract position with a continental shift basis, where every 5th week is off.
