Geotechnical Laboratory Technician (Soils)

Great Yarmouth, Norfolk

Full time & permanent opportunity

Reed Scientific is partnering with an international company who specialise in providing geotechnical and environmental surveys to a wide and diverse client base. This client has an immediate recruitment need for an experienced geotechnical laboratory technician at their Great Yarmouth site in Norfolk. The successful candidate will have previously worked in a geotechnical laboratory and will already possess a range of skills which can benefit the newly developed laboratory and help drive the company forward.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Laboratory testing of samples – using a range of geotechnical techniques
  • Analysis and processing of test results
  • Calibration of testing equipment
  • Providing training and support to junior members of the team

Skills & experience required:

  • Minimum of an A Level (ideally BSc) in Geology or science related field
  • Industry experience working within a geotechnical laboratory, including consolidation testing (Incremental oedometer and constant rate of strain), direct shearbox and unconsolidated undrained triaxial. 
  • Experience of working to set standards, procedures and protocols
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with excellent attention to detail
