Lab Technician required for market leading R&D organisation near Southampton:

Responsibilities:

  1. Sample receipt, preparation, analysis, and reporting: Handling samples, preparing them for analysis, conducting analysis using appropriate methods, and reporting results accurately.
  2. Calibration and operation of laboratory equipment: Ensuring laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and operated according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or methods, adhering to Best Laboratory Practices.
  3. Development/Validation of new methods and procedures: Collaborating on the development or validation of new methods or procedures as needed for improved efficiency or accuracy.
  4. Attention to detail: Maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all tasks to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  5. Good IT literacy: Proficiency in using various software and technology relevant to laboratory operations and data analysis.
  6. Good communication and time management skills: Effective communication with team members, managers, and possibly external stakeholders, along with strong time management abilities to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) is desired but not essential, indicating that candidates with GC experience would be preferred but it's not a strict requirement.
  • Attention to detail is crucial in ensuring accuracy in all aspects of the role.
  • Good IT literacy is necessary for handling data, using laboratory software, and possibly communicating findings through digital platforms.
  • Strong communication skills are important for collaboration within the team and possibly for conveying findings or issues to stakeholders.
  • Effective time management skills are necessary to handle multiple tasks within the 35-hour workweek efficiently.

Additionally, the position is initially until the end of the year but could be extended depending on work volumes.

The compensation offered is £13.74 per hour on a PAYE basis, with a standard 35-hour workweek from Monday to Friday.
