What is the role?

As an IT Service Asset and Configuration Manager at Gatwick Airport, you will play a critical role in managing the Lifecycle of our organisation's IT assets, Service, and its configurations. Your role will encompass ensuring compliance, optimising resources, and enhancing operational efficiency.

What will you do?

  • Develop and implement IT SACM (Service Asset and Configuration Management) policies, procedures, and processes aligned with ITIL best practices.
  • Front efforts to identify, record, and track configuration items (CIs) throughout their lifecycle, including identification, verification, and regular auditing to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive IT Asset management Database (AMDB), including hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Ensure readiness for true-up processes and audits as required, including preparing documentation and data for review.
  • Coordinate with the Storeroom Manager to ensure smooth operations regarding the receipt, storage, distribution, and disposal of stock items as required ensuring the information has been accurately recorded in AMDB within the storeroom inventory.
  • Manage relationships with ITAD service providers and managed software vendors, ensuring effective communication, contract negotiation, and alignment with organisational needs and targets, while highlighting sustainable practices.
  • Collaborate with Change Management, Service Design, transition, and other ITIL processes to ensure alignment and integration of SACM requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to IT teams and projects on SACM-related matters, including training and awareness initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to SACM processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • University degree qualification in an IT related subject (Engineering, Information Systems, Science, Business or Commerce), or equivalent experience
  • ITIL Foundation or higher
  • In-depth understanding of IT Asset management and Configuration Management principles, processes, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in utilising SACM related tools
  • Experience in managing relationships with ITAD service providers, managed software vendors, and other external partners.
  • Strong leadership abilities to drive SACM initiatives, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and influence stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to various audiences and foster collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address and question items related to data accuracy, compliance, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure and architecture.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with discovery tools used for identifying and capturing configuration items within an IT environment
  • Knowledge of change management processes and their integration with SACM agenda
