Sheridan Maine is collaborating with a Bristol-based organisation to recruit a Financial Controller for a 3-6 month interim assignment. We are seeking a fully qualified finance professional with extensive experience in the construction sector, who is also comfortable operating within IR35 regulations.

The primary objective of this position is to oversee and enhance the finance department's operations. This involves ensuring adequate funding, delivering precise management reports, conducting pertinent analyses, and providing financial forecasts to facilitate informed business decisions.

Your responsibilities as the Financial Controller will include:
  • Lead finance team, setting standards and mentoring members
  • Oversee daily financial operations and liaise with other departments
  • Supervise accurate accounting and collaborate on project reporting
  • Present monthly management accounts and develop relevant KPIs
  • Agree on budgets and assist with financial statements
  • Provide cashflow forecasts and manage banking relationships
  • Support fundraising efforts and establish project pricing rates
  • Aid in sales pricing and contract administration
  • Implement reporting systems and enhance financial compliance
  • Maintain and improve financial tools and support R&D tax claims
  • Provide insurance information and assist with trust governance
  • Support premises management and ad-hoc projects

The successful Financial Controller will require the following skills and experience:
  • Seeking an experienced Financial Controller with ideally over 10 years in Finance
  • Experienced in construction or related project-based sectors
  • Must be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Capable team player with effective communication skills across departments
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Familiarity with project financing solutions is a plus
  • Experience with Procore or similar project management systems is advantageous
