I am working with one of the top co-educational, day and boarding Prep Schools in the UK. They were named prep school of the year at the prestigious Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2019 and we were awarded best prep for innovation (2020), best prep for pastoral care (2021) and best prep for boarding (2022) by The Week Independent Schools Guide.

They have around 400 pupils aged 2 - 13 of which currently 56 board. This will rise to 70 in September and they are looking for an experienced, energetic, dynamic houseparent to support them through this growth.

The Role

Responsible to the Head of Boarding for all aspects of the effective running of the Boarding House.

  • You will help support the welfare of all boarding pupils under their charge and assist with the day-to-day running of the boarding house. This role requires enthusiasm, energy and excellent communication skills
  • To live in accommodation on the school grounds and to be on duty on the evenings agreed and 'on call’ at night in case needed
  • With the Head of Boarding, to accept responsibility for the welfare, health, safety and pastoral care of the pupils in the house
  • To undertake regular 'boarding duties' during the week, in the evenings, and at weekends.
  • To oversee wake-up and bedtime routines of the boarders resident in the house on duty days.
  • To help create an environment in which boarders will flourish, feel secure and fully engage with the House and School ethos
  • To assist with the day-to day running of the boarding house To develop an excellent relationship with the parents and guardians of boarders in order to ensure trust, confidence and clear communication
  • To help ensure the boarding house is a lovely place for our boarders to live - a place of mutual respect and tolerance
  • To develop excellent relationships with pupils, parents and staff
  • To be familiar with and attentive to the National Minimum Boarding Standards
  • To have a proactive, can-do, will-do, positive attitude To direct, as needed, other house staff (ie. House Tutors and gap students) in the supervision of boarders and the provision of activities

Salary £30,000 GPA plus (depending on experience)
