Homeless Prevention Coordinator

Westminster

£305 per day umbrella

Contract (3 months+)

The Role:

The Homeless Prevention Coordinator position, under the guidance of Housing Needs, is dedicated to reducing reliance on high cost nightly booked Temporary Accommodation (TA) for clients. Working closely with the Head of Accommodation, this role focuses on facilitating the transition of clients from TA to more sustainable housing options. Responsibilities:

  • Provide support within the Housing Solutions Service to assist families and individuals in moving from nightly booked TA to suitable, long-term accommodation.
  • Conduct client visits to assess current situations and collaboratively develop relocation plans.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer care through compassionate and empathetic interactions with clients.
  • Offer advice and assistance on homelessness prevention and facilitate access to professional and medical support as needed.
  • Ensure a mindful approach to prioritise customer experience throughout all interactions and tasks.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve targeted objectives.
  • Utilise comprehensive knowledge of homelessness law and regulations, including:
  • Housing Act 1996, Part VII: Housing duty investigations, decisions, and duties owed to applicants.
  • TA suitability and S202 reviews.

The Candidate:

  • Proficient in homelessness law and provision, with experience in similar roles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide empathetic support to clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to adapt to challenging situations and changing priorities.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and non-discriminatory practices.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
