Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for Permanent Traffic Management Operatives to join our NMC South West Contract in Scotland. Base would be Polmadie or Paisley. This is an on-site position.

Our NMC South West Contract have been working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020. We are looking to increase our resources within our internal traffic management support for the South West Contract. Amey has this contract for the next 5 years with a possible further 2-year extension. They can guarantee continuous work and job security for the right personnel.

We are responsible for over 600 kilometres of road and 1650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day. By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.

As a Traffic Management Operative, you would play an important part in undertaking the installation, maintenance, and removal of various types of temporary traffic management. This will allow cyclic maintenance activities to be carried out safely.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, throughout the year you will rotate between day shift and night shift depending on the business requirements.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting in the delivery of all aspects of temporary traffic management works to a high standard, including High speed Lane closures, slip road and total carriageway closures, diversions and contraflows. As well as traffic lights and convoy systems.
  • Drive/operate vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance and cleaning is carried out.
  • Being part of a Winter Maintenance Rota – including emergency call out and standby
  • Safety is high on our agenda so ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount.
  • Keeping accurate records, including drivers’ hours and any necessary paperwork.

We want to hear from you if you are: Self-motivated, pro-active in terms of delivering solutions and are a team player.

In addition to this, it would be ideal if you have a Class 2 HGV Licence. Traffic management qualifications in Sector 12 A, B, C and D
