Contract: Full time
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £50,000 per annum, flex points, 25 days holiday rising, pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits scheme
Location: Maidstone (ME16 0LW) with travel to sites in your sector, including Suffolk Park and Bridgwater

About the Job

You’ll have an important part to play supporting the operational management and leadership to deliver an effective health and safety management system, reducing risk and accidents and supporting the development of a safety culture.

As Health and Safety Business partner for the South you will deliver, co-ordinate and evaluate health, safety and wellbeing training and allocated projects to enhance site performance.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

  • Support managers to ensure a safe and compliant work environment and activities including the implementation of the SHE plan
  • Oversee the development and review of safe systems of work and other measures
  • Make SMART recommendations to ensure compliance, best practice and enable corrective action to be implemented
  • Act as an internal consultant to advise and coach managers on their H&S duties, providing guidance and practical solutions
  • Undertake H&S assessments, and advise managers through risk assessments
  • Support senior management with engaging with external stakeholders
  • Attend and represent the H&S team in any external/internal meetings
  • Support the H&S team in delivering the strategic objectives
  • Stay up to date with any changes in legislation, H&S initiatives and best practice

About You

  • Adaptable and able to react quickly and effectively to changes and requests
  • Work well in a team with good leadership skills
  • Good commercial understanding
  • Ability to work independently to targets and timescales
  • Experience of building credible relationship with internal/external stakeholders
  • An understanding of Warehouse Management Systems
  • Experience in a similar role would be desirable
