This esteemed law firm are looking for a Head of Department to lead the Wills Trusts and Probate department, to coordinate the team's activities, goals and the achievement of its business objectives and future strategies.

Overall Purpose:

  • To support the growth and development of the Wills Department whilst coordinating the team’s activities, goals and the achievement of its business objectives.
  • Also maintaining the delivery of professional, responsive, high quality services to our clients.
  • You will have oversight of the Wills Trust & Probate department and work closely with the operations team to support the growth and evolution of the team, the processes and the department as a whole.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Creating good, clear, communication within and across the teams to develop a cohesive, positive team environment and dynamic.
  • You will lead and support your people through the continuous evolution of the legal market and ways of working
  • You will develop and foster a client focussed culture where your team see the client experience as equally important as the legal expertise.
  • You will be involved in the preparation of wills, advice on trusts, inheritance tax, advising of lasting powers of attorney and dealing with applications and registrations.
  • Develop, maintain and appropriately use the technical expertise across the team to help find answers to questions.
  • Utilise reporting to review the workload and progress of the department and consider strategy and process.

Skills and Experience:

  • 4 years PQE or equivalent
  • Proven track record of accomplishment in organising your own personal workload as well as motivating and leading others
  • Ability to determine priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Pro-active with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally
  • High level of attention to detail required and an enquiring mind
  • A keen team member with the ability to accept responsibility and work on their own initiative
  • Microsoft office programmes with excellent numeracy and spreadsheet skills
