Head of Procurement

A newly created Senior Procurement leadership opportunity working for this successful and growing construction business. With a global footprint, this organisation are looking for a UK Procurement Leader to take ownership of their UK Procurement function and drive best practice across the organisation. This role has full executive sponsorship and reporting into the CEO, the main purpose is to develop and embed a procurement strategy and provide leadership across the senior stakeholder population.

Key areas of focus are to: develop and embed the procurement strategy; devise and implement framework agreements; drive a proactive approach to supplier engagement and their ongoing management; refine and broaden the supply base driving innovation and a partnership approach; devise and implement a UK wide supply chain program; analyse and strategically categorise spend; take ownership for high value, complex procurement activity; and provide coaching and leadership to a small transactional procurement team.

The role offers a huge degree of autonomy and profile with the opportunity to scope and lead the function from a brownfield operation. There is a need to be in their Essex office 2-3 days per week with an empowering and supportive work culture in place.

Demonstrable procurement/supply chain experience in the construction sector is required with a working knowledge of construction contracts. With strong leadership skills, you will be able to evidence a self-motivated and solutions focused approach to your work with exceptional communication and influencing skills. With highly developed negotiation skills, a customer focused approach and high levels of drive and credibility, you will have a strong sense of personal responsibility for delivery and integrity.
