Head of Wilton Operations

Reporting to the Operations Director

Based in: Wilton

Position overview:

The Wilton site is a 24/7 365 day operation, the purpose of this role is to provide the leadership to the operations team to ensure continuous reliable operation of the assets to deliver the optimised asset plan ensuring safe and compliant delivery of the services required for the site customers, the businesses trading teams needs and deliver the site financial targets.

This role will also be accountable for strong and clear leadership to support and develop the team to deliver both short- and long-term results including People Development, Operational Excellence and asset performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • To deliver the strategic direction of the Utilities business generating ideas and projects to enhance the business growth.
  • Lead and develop the operational resource to deliver quantifiable business improvements and support new developments.

Finance & Planning

  • Accountability of the development of the annual budget, and to operate within its parameters and report regularly to the UK Operations Director on performance.

Business Development - to be Responsible for:

  • Optimisation of the current assets to enhance financial contribution.
  • Operational & Commercial Management
  • Deliver the operational resource for Utilities to ensure targets are met and business interruption risk is managed to ensure all customer deliveries are met on time in full.

Engineering and Maintenance

  • To work directly with the engineering and maintenance heads to ensure their strategies are suitable for the Wilton operations.

Safety, Health & Environment

  • Accountability of the culture of safety first
  • To deliver the Utilities Operational SHE performance, ensuring that the "licence to operate" is maintained by compliance with all regulations, procedures, and codes of practice.

Customer Relations

  • To maintain and deliver key customer operational relationships via regular dialogue with customer operations managers and through regular, more formal, review sessions.

People

  • Lead and manage staff within Utilities Operations to develop and realise their full potential thus ensuring competence, conformance, continuity, and flexibility across the team.

Performance Measures

  • Achievement of business key performance indicators covering Safety & Compliance, Quality, Costs, Asset Performance, people and projects.
  • Delivery of plant and operations objectives.
  • Effective resource allocation.
  • Compliant to regulations, policies, procedures and practices.
  • Regular attendance at customer liaison meetings.
  • Personal Development Plans in place for direct reports.
  • Monthly 1:1s with direct reports.
  • Good employee/HR and union relationship.
  • Performance and recognition culture in place.

Requirements:

  • Degree, in an Engineering or Technical discipline - Essential
  • Lean Six Sigma/Operational Excellence qualification - Desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely - Essential
  • ILM Level 5 in Leadership or equivalent - Desirable
