We are seeking a Head of HR to lead and develop our HR and people strategy.   This role involves working closely with the CEO to implement and evaluate HR processes, policies, and procedures, and to provide high-quality, professional advice on a wide range of HR matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in strategic leadership, compliance, and HR management, ensuring the organisation’s commitment to equality, inclusion, and best practices in HR.  This role would suit someone with experience in public sector or the education sector.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and implement the organisation’s people/HR strategy, ensuring strategic objectives are met.
  • Lead and support specific HR projects as allocated by the CEO.
  • Work with stakeholders to lead and support change management processes.
  • Provide high-quality data for accurate risk evaluation and intervention implementation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Trade Unions and advise on employment issues.
  • Contribute to the Risk Register and provide analysis of risks to the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all HR policies and relevant employment legislation.
  • Lead the transition to electronic record keeping and ensure compliance with safer recruitment practices.
  • Set a clear talent management strategy, focusing on retention, succession planning, and professional development.
  • Establish a HR training schedule for managers and leaders.
  • Manage coordination between HR, payroll, pensions, and other services.
  • Conduct job evaluations and salary benchmarking exercises to ensure competitive attraction and retention.
  • Manage and advise on case work, including grievances, disciplinaries, and flexible working requests.
  • Lead and manage the organisation’s well-being strategy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in strategic HR leadership and management.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment legislation, and best practices.
  • Experience in change management and project management.
  • Ability to provide high-quality, accurate HR advice and support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies and training programs.
  • Proficient in HR systems and electronic record keeping.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including Trade Unions and senior management.
