Head of English – Alternative Provision
Are you a current Head of English or an aspiring Head of English looking for your next adventure? Do you get a sense of fulfilment from seeing students smash through academic and social barriers and discover a love for literature and language?

This excellent, high performing, Alternative Provision is currently recruiting for a Head of English to join the team in September 2024. As Head of English at this school you will be directly responsible for a small team of English Teacher, and for developing an English curriculum that is tailored to meet the needs of students who have been excluded from mainstream education. This school is a wonderful setting, leadership are supportive, and staff work towards a common goal… making a difference!

Although this school is an AP, there is a willingness to learn and behaviour management is supported by an experienced team of pastoral staff, who are always on call should you need them. Classes are no larger than 10 students, allowing English teachers to deliver lessons that are designed to engage students. As Head of English, you will have access to a range of preexisting English resources and have complete creative freedom to design your own. This role requires QTS.

Job Role:
  • Leading a team of English Teachers to provide an outstanding education within a dynamic Alternative Provision.
  • Teaching English to Key Stages 3 & 4 up to GCSE.
  • Teaching small classes of no more than 10 students.
  • Tailoring the English curriculum to suit the needs of learners.
  • Inspiring a love for all things English Language and Literature.
