Head of Business Studies required for growing Secondary School in Barking

Start date: September 2024

Contract type: Permanent

Payscale: Inner London Main payscale 1 to Upper Payscale 3 + TLR 2a

Engage Education is currently working with a school in Barking and Dagenham who are excited to be recruiting for a Head of Vocational Business Studies to join their dynamic team to start in September 2024. This will be a permanent post and a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner who specialises in Vocational Business Studies.

You will work alongside a talented Head of Business Studies to take a lead on their vocational business offering where you will be responsible for reviewing and developing the key 4 and key stage 5 vocational business curriculum.

In return, this growing school can offer you:

  • Departmental meetings take place on timetable, every two weeks, rather than after school.
  • The Extended Leadership Team programme gives Middle Leaders the opportunity to apply for a two year placement on the Senior Leadership Team. This involves taking responsibility for a whole school area such as Pupil Premium, ECTs, trainees or data, as well as attending SLT meetings every three weeks.
  • HODs pods take place every two weeks; this is an opportunity for groups of Heads of Department to meet to develop and share good practice around a key area of the school’s priorities.

You must:

  • Hold QTS or QTLS
  • Have experience delivering Vocational Business Studies across the full age, gender and ability range, in a secondary school or college
  • Have a proven background of developing teaching and learning within a Business department to a high standard
