Group Management Accountant - Up to £70,000 plus car allowance, bonus & benefits - North London (office based)

My client, a leading construction company based in North London, is looking to recruit a GroupManagement Accountant for their head office (5 days a week in the office). As a GroupManagement Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial management and reporting processes within our construction projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in accounting and finance, coupled with a keen interest in the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Develop, maintain, and update financial models to support project planning and forecasting.
    • Analyse project budgets, costs, and expenditures to ensure alignment with financial objectives.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to project managers and senior management based on financial analysis.
  2. Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Collaborate with project teams to develop project budgets and monitor budgetary performance throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Implement cost control measures to optimize project profitability and mitigate financial risks.
    • Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for deviations from budgeted targets.
  3. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow forecasts, and balance sheets.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather financial data and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
    • Present financial information to senior management and provide explanations on key financial metrics and trends.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
    • Identify and assess financial risks associated with construction projects and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
    • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  5. Process Improvement:
    • Continuously evaluate and streamline financial processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Implement best practices in financial management and recommend improvements to existing procedures.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting techniques, and cost accounting methodologies.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
