Excellent opportunity for a Geography / GIS Graduate to join a growing team as a Graduate GIS Technician, excellent training provided, the successful applicant is required to execute established workflows creating products from a range of datasets.

The purpose of the Technician will be to work collaboratively within a design and build team in the delivery of GIS outputs of multiple projects. This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your GIS and data management skills and provide you with excellent long-term potential to advance your career.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in a GIS / Spatial related subject
  • Technical skills in either ESRI ARCGIS, QGIS or MicroStation
  • MS Office, including Excel
  • Aptitude for working with spatial datasets and software packages, a good work ethic and an ability to learn.
  • Knowledge of using GIS software for data capture and manipulation
  • A good eye for detail to ensure the captured data is highly accurate first-time round
  • Knowledge of spatial data formats and standards
  • An understanding of geographic business intelligence
  • Highly analytical mind set and a 'first time right' attitude
  • Proactively keep up to date with advances in the GIS community
  • Ability to knowledge share and bring new ideas to the team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Motivated and enthused by challenges, coupled with a strong team focus
  • A strong desire to contribute to a unique product and user experience

Day-to-day duties and responsibilities include:

  • Produce fit for purpose, spatially aligned, geospatial datasets to meet a specified level of accuracy, including both corridor and wide areas
  • Employ image processing and enhancement techniques to improve the visual aesthetics of imagery products
  • Assess and report on the spatial accuracy of the processed products
  • Under guidance, be able to transform datasets according to project requirements
  • Generate and compile metadata using existing templates in a comprehensive but concise manner using technical vocabulary.
  • Mapping, Classification, Spatial Modelling and Asset Record workflows
  • Produce LiDAR-derived spatial modelling products according to specified parameters
  • Process and present asset imagery according to client requirements
  • Carry out Quality Control checks on the products produced
