Kenny Recruit are actively recruiting a General Ledger Accountant to join a highly reputable healthcare company. The company has been built through acquisition and organic growth from its first site in London to 45 services in South-East England. Recently acquired by new investors, they have a clear growth strategy to grow within existing markets and expand out to new geographies over the next 3-4 years. They currently support 300 individuals and have 900 staff with an ambition to grow through organic expansion and acquisition to 90 sites+.

The GLA will be a pivotal role for the Finance team in a business which is embarking on its growth journey. The role will report into the Group Financial Controller and will have internal and external stakeholders. This is a very hands-on role and will work very closely with the GFC and the Management Accountants. The role will ensure the Finance function can scale through technology and process efficiency in line with business growth.

Key to the role is tenacity, high attention to detail and an inquisitive mindset. Self-starting and a completer finisher you will have strong communication skillset. You will have a passion for developing new ways of working and using technology to enhance working processes and relevant information to the senior Finance team.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Ensure integrity, reconciliation and monthly reporting of all Balance Sheet accounts across all entities
  • Liaising closely and be the point of contact with external auditors during the annual audit process maintaining strong professional relationships
  • Quarterly VAT calculation, reconciliation and submission to HMRC
  • Monthly intercompany reconciliation
  • Fixed Asset Accounting, reconciliation and depreciation journals and ensuring the Nominal Ledger ties in with the Fixed Asset Register
  • Identify improvements to current working practices and processes within the AP, AR and day to day cashflow management
  • Ensure all costs are seamlessly coded to the correct GL account to preserve the accuracy of right first-time management accounting
  • Responsible for delivery of timely, accurate and meaningful information and KPIs in relation to Payables, Receivables and Cash to monitor performance
  • Support the GFC with the finance systems upgrade and automation project
  • Assisting with the month end process where required
  • Collaborate with internal teams as required to resolve business issues in relation to debt (payable and receivable) - key stakeholders being (but not limited to) the Commercial, Property and Operations teams
  • Maintain the motor vehicle database, insurance and claim process
  • Support with the accounting and cashflow for the property and development company within the group
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as and when required

Reporting

  • Deliver accurate and timely information to the senior finance team - including but not limited to ageing analysis, cashflow forecasting, working capital KPIs and internal efficiency KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the transactional processing
  • Ensure the daily cashflow is reconciled/ actualised to support review of short-term forecast by senior finance team
  • Support completion of the Group VAT return for timely submission

Other duties

  • Identify areas of weakness in controls and work with team to implement robust processes to improve them
  • Support financial training where needed within the team

Skills/Experience/Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • High energy and integrity, hands on where required and can-do mind-set.
  • Capable of identifying problems with the passion and ability to resolve.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and communicate effectively with business customers, the Heads of Departments, and other teams.
  • Experienced and detailed accountant by qualification/ experience - comfortable in all areas of transactional accounting and reconciliation
  • Experience of working in growing SME businesses including transformation experience
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • (Preferably) Part-Qualified (with a recognised accounting body) or QBE
