My client is an established, high end, luxury furniture manufacturer based in modern, brand-new facilities in SW London/Surrey, where they have in-house production and manufacturing teams producing high-end, free standing and fitted bespoke furniture.
Currently experiencing an exciting period of growth, they wish to appoint a passionate and highly experienced Furniture Designer to help bring hand crafted, often one-off set pieces of beautiful furniture to life.
As an experienced Furniture Designer (CAD), you will have previously designed bespoke fitted or free-standing furniture (Upholstery or Joinery) as 2D/3D furniture models, using SolidWorks and/or Rhinoceros.
We are looking for both a Senior and Junior Furniture Designer / CAD Technician with a flair for design to join their talented team of craftsmen and women.
Furniture Designer Job Description:
The position will involve developing our clients’ initial concepts through to final production and manufacture, to produce highly accurate and technical manufacturing and production drawings to a very high standard.
- Design bespoke fitted and free-standing luxury furniture (upholstery and joinery)
- Produce and design 2D/3D furniture models
- Produce detailed, technical working production drawings and packs for manufacturing noting all details for all departments involved in the manufacturing cycle
- Conduct site surveys
- Liaise with clients
- Order materials
- Calculate material requirements, costs and prepare quotations
- Manage and co-ordinate furniture projects from enquiry through to installation
- Liaise with internal production teams (Upholstery & Joinery)
- Work to agreed deadlines
- Support Company Directors where needed
Furniture Designer Skill Requirements:
- We are looking for someone who has a strong level of understanding of bespoke furniture.
- Previous experience working as a Furniture Designer or CAD Designer, with a good understanding of upholstery and joinery manufacturing
- A strong technical background within furniture design, ideally with bespoke work
- Must have experience in SolidWorks and/or Rhinoceros 3D
- A solid understanding of upholstery and joinery manufacturing processes and materials
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge and experience of bespoke upholstery and luxury furniture production
- Problem solving skills and proven experience to solve technical challenges
- A broad knowledge of furniture construction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK
- Full UK driving license desirable
