Food Production Manager - High Care (12 month FTC)


Location: Davin Foods, Barking Dagenham
Contract Type: Permanent
Job Type: Full time
Hours: 40 hours per week, Sunday to Friday (any 5 of 6, always to include Sunday)
Salary: Competitive

Job Role

This is 12-month fixed term contract.

To ensure the day to day running of your area of responsibility meets the required Operational, Customer, Food Safety and Health and Safety standards. Provide leadership to your team and ensure your departments are planned, co-ordinated and managed to facilitate complete and timely manufacturing of all finished goods.

Accountabilities:

• Ensure daily orders are manufactured on time, in full to the standard required.
• Ensure team operates efficiently and effectively.
• Ensure the consistency and correct quality of finished products to maintain Davin Foods’ reputation within the market.
• Maintain low level customer complaints.
• Ensure the production team are trained and developed to provide flexibility of knowledge and skills. Ensure sufficient team members are trained for the high skilled jobs.
• Effectively induct new starters into the team and conduct appraisals with existing Team Members.
• Ensure that factory hygiene and health and safety standards are achieved and maintained in line with internal and regulatory requirements. Ensure production areas are always audit ready.
• Understand Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and monitor performance against them. Ensure corrective actions are implemented where KPI’s are not met.
• Proactively identify opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations and make recommendations for improvement.
• Work well with all departments to ensure labour is correctly distributed to reduce overtime and ensure all departments finish together.
• Manage team member issues and settle disputes in an effective and calm manner.
• Keep food waste to a minimum, reusing offcuts where possible.
• Ensure all food is produced in alignment with food safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Promote a positive environment, recognising achievements, and driving operational excellence.

To be successful in your application for the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills & experience.

• NVQ/Degree in relevant subject
• Experience of managing a team within a food production environment
• High care manufacturing experience
• Experience with ERP/MRP/F&B Software
• Good manufacturing knowledge with a strong understanding of production processes
