The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes all over England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we'd love you to join us. 

We’re looking for a Food and Beverage Team Leader to join us at Woolsthorpe Manor. Because we are in a rural area, your own transport is essential.

Hours: Part-time hours, working 855 hours per year. You'll work across Thursday to Monday on average 3 days a week, and will need to work at least one weekend day. Shifts will be worked 9am to 5pm.

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. This works out as on average 22.5 hours per week from February to October. The property is then closed November to beginning of February.

Salary: £11.88 per hour (£23,166 per year pro rata).

Duration: Permanent contract.

What it's like to work here

You'll report to the Food & Beverage Manager, and be based at Woolsthorpe Manor (Grantham, Lincolnshire, NG33 5PD), the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton. As well as the house, there is a second-hand bookshop and Newton's barn coffee shop, serving a range of drinks, snacks and light meals with outdoor and indoor seating available. The property operates with a small team where departments work closely together to ensure a great visitor experience.

What you'll be doing As a Team Leader, you’ll be giving day-to-day support to your team, to make sure they’re consistently giving great service to everyone who comes to the café. This is a busy, lively place to work, so you’ll need to be adaptable.
Your focus will be front of house, dealing directly with people and serving them food and drink. Crucial to this role will be your love of working with people, your positive ‘can-do’ attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service.
Using your excellent eye for detail, you’ll make sure all displays and signs are accurate, and that the food is looking good. At times, you may need to help the kitchen team with preparing food.
You’ll also be supervising the induction and training of colleagues, to help build a team that’s dedicated to great service and to giving people a day to remember.
We’ll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role. You can sign up for further professional training and development if you wish.
