Financial Controller

London - Remote

Are you a dynamic and qualified financial professional ready to take on a pivotal role in a highly acquisitive software company? Our client, based in London, is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a proactive Financial Controller to join their team. As a key member of the finance department, you'll be responsible for overseeing statutory accounting, managing VAT returns, handling tax matters, and ensuring the smooth operation of the back office finance function.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of accurate and timely statutory accounts in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Manage the timely and accurate filing of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of tax documents, including corporate tax returns.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the finance function, implementing best practices to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, standards, and internal policies
  • Supporting the integration of financial information of acquired businesses

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified ACA or ACCA
  • Proven expertise in statutory accounting, VAT returns, and tax management.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
