A leading Utilities business based in the Midlands are looking for a Financial Reporting Specialist to join their team. This is the perfect first move into industry, with an already carved out development plan to progress your career within the business. This role will see you working closely with senior stakeholders, providing expert level advice on reporting and accounting standards as well as supporting areas of the business in the delivery of process improvements.

This is an exciting time to be joining the business, as they continue their commitment to sustainability and work on new projects. The team operate on a hybrid basis with 1 day a week in the office and value the cohesiveness of their team, working as a tight knit group.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support the financial reporting team with various accounting areas.
  • Prepare statutory accounts under IFRS.
  • Prepare quarterly, half yearly and annual reports.
  • Key contact for auditors; resolving any queries.
  • Subject matter expert on accounting standards including training the business on any new standards.
  • Assist with consolidation reporting and treasury close each month.
  • Work closely with the Controls team to ensure processes are robust and to assist with process improvements.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ ACCA/CIMA/equivalent).
  • Audit background essential.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems preferred.
