Excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established company based in Sittingbourne

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent

Role and responsibilities

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for analysing project specifications and requirements to provide accurate cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Ideally, you will have experience in the metalwork or associated construction industry trade for a minimum of 3 years

Role Description:

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will be working in the estimating and sales office producing accurate quotations and negotiating tenders with their clients. You will be working closely with contracts, design and production at both pre-submission and post Order stage.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine project scope and requirements
  • Carrying out steel take offs, measuring and qualifying material from engineers and architects technical drawings
  • Conduct thorough analysis of project costs, including materials, labour, equipment, and associated expenses
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for client review
  • Follow up tenders and quotations
  • Procure new clients and manage existing client relationships
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings or value engineering
  • Maintain accurate records of project estimates and update as necessary throughout the project lifecycle
  • Communicate effectively with clients, team members and subcontractors to ensure clear understanding of project requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and processes
  • Proficient in using estimating software and tools
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Skills:

  • Cost Control: Demonstrates ability to effectively manage costs throughout the estimation process
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required
