The Group IT Enterprise Architecture function is charged with aligning our technological strategy with our broader business objectives. This involves:

  1. Ensuring the integrity of solution architecture and key design decisions across all change initiatives in accordance with technical suitability, group standards, policies, and principles.
  2. Defining solutions and providing architecture guidance and management services to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, policy compliance, and adherence to standards.
  3. Establishing and maintaining design governance principles and standards to meet evolving business needs and group policies.

We are embarking on several strategic systems and technology transformation endeavors across our business units and global regions. The Enterprise Architect will play a pivotal role within the Group IT Enterprise Architecture function, overseeing and enhancing our enterprise architecture capability.

The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for:

  • Developing, maintaining, and disseminating key enterprise architecture artifacts to relevant stakeholders, including policies, standards, processes, and templates.
  • Managing critical group enterprise architecture assets within the group EA management tool/repository, such as application and technology catalogs, roadmaps, and capability models.
  • Facilitating group architecture governance forums, including developing decision-making frameworks, scheduling and conducting meetings, and reporting on governance metrics and outcomes.
  • Conducting due diligence on vendor systems/solutions to ensure alignment with group IT policies and standards.
  • Providing enterprise architecture guidance and direction in key change program/project and business stakeholder meetings as needed.
  • Spearheading the continuous improvement plan for group IT enterprise architecture.

As a senior member, you may be called upon to undertake broader duties and tasks within the scope of the role.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience in architecture and IT governance, including establishing and managing group-wide/global Architecture Review Boards and Design Authority for major change programs.
  • Proficiency in business and systems analysis and design.
  • Expertise in enterprise and solution architecture using industry-standard frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF and BCS.
  • Strong technical skills in defining systems and technology solution architecture, particularly using Microsoft Azure and Salesforce technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of enterprise-grade integration architecture, including modern RESTful API approaches and traditional messaging and web services.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure and security architecture, IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL), and IT governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT).
  • Understanding of secure design and development practices and frameworks, preferably ISC2 CSSLP or CISSP certified.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Essential: Strong enterprise architecture skills and experience, particularly in leading group-level Architecture Review Boards and managing EA artifacts and assets.
  • Essential: Experience in developing capability models (preferably within the insurance domain), application and technology catalogs, and roadmaps.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with regulatory environments such as FCA, PRA, GDPR, and business intelligence/data warehousing technologies.
  • Desirable: Understanding of technology governance standards and best practices.
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of enterprise and solution architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • Preferred: Experience in the insurance domain, particularly broking and/or London Market.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with insurance systems and the London Insurance Market.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in Enterprise & Solution Architecture (e.g., from BCS, TOGAF, or Archimate)
