An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as an Editorial Administrator for an extremely inspiring not-for-profit publishing organisation based on the outskirts of Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to get into an office environment and will suit someone who has great interpersonal and organisation skills, as well as excellent written and verbal skills.

Whilst reporting directly to the Managing Editor, you will be responsible for ensuring the journal administrative procedures are as efficient as possible whilst meeting needs of authors, referees, and editors. Along with this, you will be receiving and processing manuscripts through manuscript tracking systems such as Editorial manager.

You will be providing help and rapid response for users, together with providing support and cover for other members of the journal team as and when required.

Occasional project work may also become available - adding to the diversity of this role.

Other main duties may include:

  • Efficient record keeping on databases
  • Sending proofs to authors
  • Ensuring all relevant files are passed onto appropriate departments
  • Filing & archiving
  • Provide adequate administrative cover during staff shortages
  • Generation of monthly journal statistics


The hours are full-time, Monday-Friday and will be 2 to 3 days in the office, with the rest working from home.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in an administrative role along with a working knowledge of excel, and it will be extremely advantageous to have a background/experience in a publishing or scientific environment.
