Director - Consumer Finance / Retail Finance

Manchester (three days per week)

£150,000 - £180,000 pa, up to 50% bonus, 10% pension, healthcare and shares

Our client is a small, ambitious niche bank that offers a range of specialist business lending facilities and retail / consumer savings products.

As it continues to expand it is launching a new consumer hire purchase retail finance offering across its vast network of existing manufacturer and dealership relationships to complement its existing floorplan finance and unit stocking finance.

In order to execute the plan it is keen to appoint an experienced retail lending / consumer finance professional to lead the new initiative, reporting into the CEO and a part of EXCO

The role:

  • Design and delivery of the strategy to launch the consumer financing product into their existing dealership and manufacturer relationships to create a meaningful presence in the market.
  • Ensuring a top-class service to the dealer network, building strong relationships and creating great customer experiences for the borrowers. This will eventually extend into the B2B hire purchase and leasing sectors.
  • Overseeing the entire customer journey from onboarding to in-life management, including collections and arrears management and ensuring a seamless process.
  • Sales support and dealer network management; providing internal sales support to the dealer network, ensuring an excellent quality of service and maintaining strong relationships to drive business growth.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Credit to establish appropriate credit appetite and with Compliance to ensure anti-money laundering regulations.
  • Customer proposition and pricing strategy - defining customer propositions, determining pricing in collaboration with Finance and the Head of Lending Decisioning and refining market-suitable offerings to meet to demands.
  • Developing and executing strategic plans for targeted growth across the market sectors in collaboration with the Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Digitisation and technology integration - driving a highly digitised proposition, leveraging technology to enhance customer experiences whilst ensuring human touchpoints to enrich the proposition.
  • Recruitment and leadership of a growing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and innovation within the team as it expands.
  • Executive responsibilities and providing a bank-wide view on retail finance operations and strategies.

The candidate:

  • Proven leadership experience in retail finance, consumer finance, automotive finance or some other similar regulated consumer lending environment.
  • A good understanding of B2B hire purchase and leasing with a track record of driving growth and profitability.
  • Expertise in credit management, AML compliance and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities with experience of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to optimise processes and enhance customer experiences.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
