The Digital Turnaround Programme Manager will coordinate and have overarching programme management of the 2 Digital Turnaround charters. These charters include 4 initiatives, each with their own detailed delivery plans and milestones. This role requires a high level of emotional intelligence and matrix management skills as each initiative already its own programme and project management teams. This role will work with those teams, the wider business and Turnaround Management Office (TMO) to orchestrate the Digital activity and resource required to deliver these programmes alongside the other Charters that will require Digital input at various points.

The turnaround plan is critical to Thames Water, delivering strategic business and technology change. The Digital Turnaround Initiatives underpin the core foundational change needed in the business. The Digital strategy is predicated on ‘Faster delivery on secure, robust foundations’ and this role will be instrumental in delivery of this strategy. As well as the 2 Digital led charters there are 18 additional programmes of work outside of digital, but most (if not all) will require Digital input and resource to deliver. This complex 3+ year programme will require new ways of working and an agile set of resources across Digital and it will be the responsibility of this Programme manager to ensure the parallel workstreams run in harmony.

What you’ll be doing as a Digital Turnaround Programme Manager
This role will manage an integrated plan combining the detail from the 4 distinct but interdependent Digital initiatives as well as the delivery plans of the 18 other charters and when they require digital input and resource.

The role requires a broad understanding of technology and tech transformation programmes. You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable influencing a complex set of stakeholders, at all levels. You will need to work at pace, adapt and think creatively whilst being methodical and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Coordinate an integrated plan for all Digital turnaround activities
  • Lead and manage Digital Turnaround Programme resourcing requirements
  • Effective management of risks, issues and costs.
  • Follow agreed governance standards across the project/s lifecycle/s
  • Supplier management
  • Support Digital Transformation objectives
Base Location: Clearwater Court, Reading - Hybrid

What you should bring to the role
  • Experience of Digital / IT programme management delivery role
  • Experience of leading multiyear transformational and/or Digital delivery programmes
  • Experience of financial management.
  • Experience of resource planning and coordination.
  • Customer centric delivery experience.
  • Experience of multi-level stakeholder influencing and stakeholder management.
  • SAFe Practitioner, Scrum Master or equivalent.
  • PRINCE 2 Practitioner or equivalent
What’s in it for you?
  • Offering a rate of between £800 - £1000 per day depending on experience
  • This is a contract role, inside IR35, for an initial duration of 6 months with view to extend.
