Design Engineer
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join a well-established manufacturer of spline gauges, master gears and gear inspection related gauging based in the Birmingham area.

As a design engineer you will be working within the design office, responsible for accurately and efficiently designing new work to recognized global and industry standards, meeting customer criteria and specifications as well as understanding the manufacturing processes and the time taken to complete each manufacturing task, utilising the in-house systems and pricing metrics.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare quotations consistent with the company groups pricing guidelines within agreed SLA time-scales and maintain the quotations database.
- Understand the competition, market conditions internal and external bottlenecks/restrictions plus individual customer requirements to drive new and maintain repeat business opportunities.
- Research any possibilities for lower material costs on quotations.
- Provide professional customer service and communication with internal and external customers (including sales managers, production control, and product teams.
- End to end design of all customer projects using AutoCAD and in house bespoke software.
- Ensure correct Design standards are qualified and utilised throughout entire design process as well as ensuring correct manufacturing processes are detailed for shop floor production.
- Work in tandem with the design team and design lead to deliver weekly, monthly and yearly sales goals.
- Review base pricing structures to ensure accurate costs are applied and business margins are adhered to or enhanced.
- Informed customer discussions to enhance business and grow customer base.
- Ensure limits of authority are adhered to and definitive sign off is sought before undertaking discount decisions or agreements.
- Check, verify and validate all data/ design information to ensure agreed standards are adhered to.
Requirements:
- Strong numerical and English skills
- Analytical mindset
Dynamic, enthusiastic and positive attitude - Experience with ANSI, DIN 5480, 5481, JIS 1603, JIS 2001
- Proven background within engineering design
- High level of accuracy and detail
- Technical knowledge
- Ability to use MS packages and AutoCAD

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 7am – 4pm and Fridays 7am - 12pm (Mid-day)
