Design Development Engineer

  • Salary: £35k to £45k (depending on experience)
  • Location: Cambridge, England
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a creative and hands-on Design Engineer to join our clients dynamic Product Development team. This role is focused on new product development within the healthcare environment, offering the chance to work on projects from early concept through to mass production.

Day to day of the role:

  • Develop innovative ideas from scratch and create proofs of concept.
  • Create 3D CAD models and build working prototypes in-house for evaluation and testing.
  • Produce comprehensive product specifications for manufacture, including drawings, labelling, and associated documentation.
  • Manage pre-launch product testing and ensure adherence to high-quality and regulatory standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Solid experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD program.
  • Hands-on small tools and bench experience, including general metal and woodwork.
  • Desirable: Experience designing mechanical linkages.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and thrive in a high-pressure environment.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to changing requirements, led by customer insights.
  • Commitment to health and safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
