Our Andersen-EV range of stylish charge points for electric vehicles are a blend of Scandinavian inspired design with cutting edge innovation. Our unique design features, such as a patented solution which hides the cable and plug from sight, have helped us win partnerships with vehicle manufacturers such as Jaguar-Land Rover and Porsche UK.

All our intelligent EV charging points are IoT enabled, so customers can track things like their energy usage using our very own mobile applications.

We’re looking to grow our Product and Technology team by bringing on some of the best and brightest developers to help us expand our development capabilities. This will necessitate increasing our Technical Leadership. We are therefore seeking an experienced, qualified, and multi-skilled deputy to our Director of Engineering.

Summary

As the Deputy Head of Engineering, you will work alongside our engineering team, reporting to the Director of Engineering.

You will hold a Degree in Electronics Engineering and will be multiskilled in the disciplines of Electronics Hardware Design, Firmware Development, Cloud Servers, Smartphone Applications and Website implementation.

You will be involved in the day-to-day management of a team of cross skilled experts in these specialities and will also be expected to carry your own development workload. We are seeking someone who is a team player having first class management and technical skills. You will be outgoing, hardworking, and enthusiastic and will spread these attributes throughout the development team. You will be at the forefront of design and innovation, not only in our company but also within the Electric Vehicle Charging Industry as a whole. This is an office-based role as you will be expected to work very closely with the Director of Engineering, other senior management, and the development team.

Alongside your supervision and development work, you’ll be expected to uphold the detailed level of documentation and reporting that all our development team deliver in support of new features and releases.

You Will Need

  • A passion for technology
  • Degree level education in the field of Electronics Engineering
  • Fully experienced in designing circuits, schematic capture, PCB layout
  • Board bring-up for both digital and analogue circuits
  • You will be familiar and fully competent with Altium 365 and Altium Designer
  • Knowledge of EMC design principles and best practices and designing to industry regulations
  • Experienced with lab testing and measurement equipment such as power supplies, AC and DC loads, oscilloscopes, and near-field probes
  • A thorough knowledge of C, Embedded C and C++
  • A knowledge of agile product development practices, project management tools, toolchains, and unit testing software
  • Knowledge of standard tools such as compilers and debuggers, especially ARM based
  • Experience with ST Microelectronics SM32 series of microcontrollers, Espressif and Atmega microcontrollers, particularly 32 bit
  • Experience with developing Smartphone Applications and Websites
  • An aptitude for problem solving
  • To be fully computer literate
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language
  • At least 4 years’ experience as a manager in an electronics development environment

Ideally, you will:

  • Have a keen interest in electric vehicles and the energy industry
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language
  • Have extensive industry experience as an Electronics Developer with significant management experience.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • To fully support the Director of Engineering in all activities
  • To be involved in the day-to-day activities of the development team
  • To have an active role in project planning
  • To ensure that projects run to time
  • To report any issues and deviations
  • To carry your own development workload
  • To carry out the duties of the Director of Engineering during absences and leave
  • Support production operations, including end of line testing and problem investigations
  • To act as an educator to other areas of the business, including sales, marketing, and customer services

Advantageous Skills/Experience

  • Experience of developing IoT / Smart Products both mains powered
  • Experience of Open EVSE / RAPI / EV Charging technologies
