Role Snapshot…

In this role, you will promote and be responsible for the GIS service delivered at South Norfolk and Broadland Councils. Using ESRI ArcGIS software, you will be providing geospatial data analysis, digitising new datasets and publishing the data to users, creating maps and more. You will also be required to represent the Councils on GIS related projects and topics with other local or central government authorities.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Administering, maintaining and developing the corporate geographic information system and data resources encompassing the Councils’ Website and Intranet.
  • Analysing geographic information for a broad range of customer specific applications, to help shape the delivery of services or identify commercial opportunities.
  • Acting as the main lead on Geographical Information Systems within the councils, working with, sharing knowledge, and providing advice to, other staff throughout the Councils.
  • Producing corporate geographic information related policy overlays in relation to all aspects of service provision including planning, economic growth, environmental protection, waste management and community and wellbeing data.
  • Championing the use of spatial data to inform business decisions and improve customer services.
  • Support good information governance across the Councils and ensure datasets are kept up to date and accurate using automation where appropriate.

You must have…

  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area with practical experience of GIS software, specifically ArcGIS Desktop / ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. We would consider applications from newly qualified individuals or those with experience within this sector.
  • Experience in applying a wide range of data analysis techniques and knowledge of Ordnance Survey digital and other digital and conventional mapping products.
  • Automation / Development Skills within the ESRI Product suite e.g. Python.
  • The ability to be an excellent communicator with a methodical approach and possess excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
