Faculty / Directorate

The Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities (ADH) is home to many of DMU’s creative disciplines and humanities subjects and is one of the UK's leading Higher Education providers of creative disciplines. Working in a busy and dynamic professional services team, we provide comprehensive support to our 5000 students and 300 members of staff across our 3 main buildings; the award-winning Vijay Patel Building, the Clephan Building and our Performing Arts Centre of Excellence.

Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the DMU Confucius Institute (DMU CI) based within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities. DMU CI is a vibrant celebration of Chinese language and culture for all, providing students and the wider community with a taste of Chinese life on the DMU campus and beyond.

The Confucius Institute Operations Coordinator will oversee and deliver a range of operational tasks for DMU CI, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Institute. Responsibilities will include providing a range of administrative, financial and events assistance for the DMU CI, including supporting the effective operation of the DMU CI Management Board.

The role is on a part time (22.2 hours per week) permanent basis in a hybrid capacity. The work schedule for this position is Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The salary shown will need to be pro-rated down to reflect the part time hours.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role should hold a bachelor's degree or have equivalent experience and demonstrate fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English. They must exhibit exceptional cross-cultural competence and be able to facilitate smooth communication and collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders. The candidate should have a solid track record in liaison and project management, adept at coordinating various events effectively. The candidate should be able to implement innovative solutions to enhance the operational efficiency of the Institute. Moreover, they should have a genuine passion for education and cultural exchange, strong problem-solving and communication skills.
