Unique opportunity to be part of a Major Project team developing and delivering Major Infrastructure schemes, including the development of billion pound+ reservoir projects!

Anglian Water are developing two new strategic reservoirs: the Lincolnshire Reservoir and Fens Reservoir. These multi-billion-pound projects are nationally significant infrastructure projects and are being developed this AMP, so that they are ready to start on site this decade and be in supply in AMP9. Along with this, the Major Infrastructure team will also be working to deliver exciting new Major Projects, including the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation Project.

As part of our growth, we are looking for a Commercial Assurance Lead to be responsible for the commercial assurance across the Major Infrastructure portfolio of projects. The position will support the Head of Commercial & Performance in the provision of consistent, effective, and efficient commercial assurance. You'll develop and nurture strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Internal Audit.

The position will be responsible in assuring that adequate commercial assurance regimes are implemented and delivered through self-assurance, deep-dives, and effective commercial and contractual controls. You'll also provide commercial assurance intelligence that underpin an environment of continuous improvement.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for leading of the development and implementation of the Commercial Assurance Strategy across the Major Infrastructure portfolio.

  • Develop a clear vision for Commercial Assurance, which is underpinned a defined a commercial assurance plan and/or associated commercial assurance framework.

  • Coordinate, integrate and manage the successful implementation and operation of the commercial assurance function across Major Infrastructure.

  • Lead on defining and operating a clear accountability for commercial assurance across all functional areas and ensuring that these are incorporated into all associated plans and review frameworks.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective commercial assurance performance reporting, to provide valuable insight to key stakeholder forums, including project boards, senior leadership groups, and other functional leaders/managers.

  • Provide analysis and insight around programme direction and decision making for core commercial management activities.

  • Lead on the 3rd party assurance and associated benchmarking in line with agreed milestones of the project lifecycle and associated deliverables.

  • Work closely with all key stakeholders to develop and nurture an environment for continuous improvement supporting the collation and dissemination of good practice, lessons learned and embedding innovation the heart of what we do.

What does it take to be a Commercial Assurance Lead?

  • Knowledge and experience of the commercial assurance/audit procedure.

  • Knowledge and experience of commercial management and project controls.

  • Knowledge and experience of working within major infrastructure programmes.

  • Proven ability in understanding and reporting on business objectives.

  • Can provide direction to other team members and key stakeholders.

  • Ability to communicate with members of the Major Infrastructure Team at all levels.

  • Ability to mentor and develop team members.
