One of our clients is seeking a dedicated College Nurse to join on a permenant basis. This role is integral to providing clinical health and care support for learners, acting as the college Designated Senior Mental Health Lead, and ensuring the well-being of our students. The successful candidate will be the central point of contact for all health-related needs within the college and will work closely with external health partners to implement best practices.
  • Location: North Devon
  • Job Type: Full-time 37 hours per week 
  • Salary up to £34297 per annum 
Day to Day of the role of a College Nurse:
  • Coordinate the administration of medicine to learners and monitor their health care needs.
  • Act as the college Designated Senior Mental Health Lead and create care plans for learners with health-related needs.
  • Liaise with external health partners and cross-college teams to support learners with health needs.
  • Monitor and record the administration of medication and medical conditions of learners on-site.
  • Provide practical advice and support to parents, carers, and staff regarding health-related matters.
  • Coordinate training for staff on administering medication and create internal health care plans.
  • Work with the Health and Safety Officer to create risk assessments for learners requiring medication.
  • Support the Safeguarding Team in managing learners at risk and facilitate access to external support agencies.
  • Promote health & wellbeing and engagement in study programs for learners.
  • Be a point of contact for sharing information between parents, guardians, external services, and the college.
Required Skills & Qualifications for the role if a College Nurse:
  • Experience in a health care or educational support role.
  • Strong understanding of health care needs and medication administration.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to create and implement care plans and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and commitment to promoting welfare.
  • Experience working with learners with Learning Disabilities is desirable
  • Hold NMC Registration
