CNC Lathe Setter Operator required by manufacturer which is enjoying a sustained level of growth and considerable investment in people and machinery at its impressive manufacturing facility.

Applicants for the post of CNC Lathe Setter Operator must have experience of FANUC CNC Lathes (Setting, operating and, ideally, some programming knowledge) and an ability to read and work to engineering drawings. Good all round knowledge of machine shop practices essential.

Working with materials spanning cast iron, mild steel, plastic andaluminium, the key duties of the CNC Lathe Setter Operator will include:

  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle and produce components in accordance with layouts, drawings, sketches, production orders or verbal instructions.
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
  • Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
  • Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
  • Test operation of machines periodically
  • Fix issues that might occur during the shift
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
  • Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Maintain activity logs
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Strive for friendly, constructive working relationships with colleagues in a continuous improvement environment.

Your previous experience of using Fanuc controlled lathes in a similar role should be backed up by good attention to detail and good time management and negotiating skills.

Hours for this CNC Lathe Setter Operator role are 7.30 am-4.30 pm, Monday-Thursday and 7.30 am-1.30 pm Friday.
